WHY
DEVELOPMENT?
We firmly believe that basketball, and sports in general, provide an excellent opportunity for young athletes to grow and develop. There are many ways to foster this growth, and one of the key methods is by challenging our athletes each time they step on the court. This challenge looks different for each player. Some are ready to compete in full 5-on-5 games, which allows them to test their skills and improve. However, many younger athletes—especially those who are new to the game—are not quite there yet. These athletes benefit most from individual attention, skill development, and small-sided games that help them hone their abilities. That’s the focus of the PA Hoops Academy Player Development Program—building fundamental skills to help athletes improve both on and off the court.

So, what is the Development Program? It’s structured by age and ability to ensure that athletes feel both challenged and supported in a group setting. The goal is to challenge them without overwhelming them, because true development happens when they’re pushed in the right way. The program meets 2-3 times a week over a span 0f 6-8 weeks (depending on the season), with skills advancing each week as the athletes continue to grow.
